Is anyone here planning on getting the PS4 or Xbox One?

Anyone planning on getting either of the new consoles when they come out this fall?

Personally it'll be a while for me. Probably until they either stop making games for the current generation, or there's a next gen-specific game that I just can't wait to get my hands on. It took a combination of Halo 3 coming out and GTA IV being announced for me to get a 360, and that was a good two years after its release date.

Hell no. Not even a little bit. I have trouble even identifying with the people who are planning on it.

That isn't to say I'll never get one of the consoles. But in my mind, they haven't provided people with any good reasons to want to get a new console other than "this one is more new than the last one". And I'm not the kind of person who spends that much money just so I can feel current. It feels like all the positive publicity the companies are getting this time around is for horrible shit that they're NOT doing rather than good stuff that they are doing. The whole thing is just weird to me.

So no, I won't plan to get a new console until they give me a reason to want to get one. Even if it's merely something as simple as bringing out several interesting games that I want to try out. But I can't see that happening soon - so I imagine it'll definitely be at least a couple of years before I get a new system, if I end up getting one at all.

I dont plan in getting it any time soon. Ill get a new console on the release day of Mirrors Edge 2 or Kingdom hearts 3. Whichever comes first. By then ill be able to read more review and form a better opinion on which system is better an worth my money.

If I find myself with more money than I know what to do with down the line I'll probably pick up a PS4. I may get the XBone Controller once the Windows Drivers come out for it.

Well I don't have the money to get one when they are released, but I may get a PS4 at some point next year, once a few more exclusives have been released

I don't think so, not any time soon anyway. For a few reasons:
1. We don't really have the money to spend on something like that right now
2. It wouldn't be worth it since I don't get to play games often anyway except for a few hours in the evening
3. It feels like it's too soon for the next gen. Like there was an obvious difference between ps1 and ps2, and an even bigger difference between ps2 and ps3, but I haven't seen anything yet to convince me that there will be such a leap from ps3 to ps4.

Maybe when the next GTA comes out I will invest

I'll probably get a PS4 at some point, but not anytime soon. There's still plenty of PS3 games that I want to play.

Yeah I agree it's gonna take more than "Hey it's new!!!!!" to get me to buy it. At that I'll get a PS4 sometime but not while I can still get god games for PS3

Probably will be a couple years before I get one either. Plus it I recall correctly the first year of games for systems usually aren't that good anyway. It takes a couple years before you really start to see games that best take advantage of the new console.

I don't plan on grabbing either one until my PS3 kicks the bucket. It's glitching a little bit on my NBA 2k12 but I'm just figuring it's because it's that game.

I'm definitely gonna get a PS4 so I can play Kingdom Hearts 3. Ive been waiting like 8 years for that game, its probably my favorite game series of all time. So in my mind it is worth getting a PS4, just not too sure when I will get around to buying one.

I ain't even got round to buying a PS3, never mind PS4 or Xbox One. I wouldn't get the latter tbh anyway, more of a Sony fan.

But if I was to get a console, I'd probably get a PS3 anyway. I think the PS4/Xbox One will get time to get going and the majority of gamers will probably stick for the PS3 for the meantime. My friends are all on PS3 besides one who will be getting the four.

There should be no obligation to bring out a new generation just because a certain amount of time has past though. I find that reasoning is completely mental. You bring out a new generation when you can no longer make improvements on the old one, when the market is crying out for new systems and when you have something new to give to people that they really want.

It feels like this generation is hitting almost none of those criteria. And with the world economy in the crapper and people being a lot more mindful of their cash, a selfish part of me is kind of hoping this move bites the gaming companies in the ass. It would be great if the gaming audience was to send them a clear message that "No, we won't just eat up anything you feed us."
