When was politics good?

With the shitshow in the UK, and the world it seems, from a political point of view, was there a time when you were happy with the political state of your nation? Even though I can't remember it in detail just due to my age at that time, but 1998-2000 seemed to be when things were fairly calm. Polit...

The Clinton Affair

This has been airing on More4 in the UK and it's a fascinating series on Bill Clinton, his time as President and specifically the Monica Lewinsky affair. I'd always seen that affair as the primary reason why there was an impeachment process but the Whitewater issue, his previous allegations by women...

Re: I want Daniel Bryan vs Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania

I hate the New Day though. It sounds refreshing the way he's been given a chance this past week, and has played the underdog babyface finally rising to the occasion and all that. I want to like the idea of him vs Bryan for the title at Wrestlemania. I actually do basically like the idea. And then I...

Re: Bernie Sanders 2020

It looks like Bernie probably had his chance so unlikely he'd win this time, but not many - besides the one Tim has cited, perhaps - that can mount a real challenge as a nominee against Trump. I mean, normally Presidents get another term but surely, SURELY, Trump doesn't* *He probably will as he'll ...

Re: Jumping Ship to AEW

Not a clue who AEW are tbh but I did across some Youtube videos where it suggested CM Punk may be on his way there, but from all interviews he's given, returning to wrestling - never mind WWE - is far, far away. If this company can learn from where TNA went wrong then it could build up a nice, littl...

Re: Podcasts you listen to..

prophet wrote:The Peter Crouch Podcast is the one for you, Aky.

I've heard good things about it, but I'm limiting my podcast listening to a handful of things, so I've gone for Lineker and Baker's Behind Closed Doors as my relaxed football listen, alongside Totally Football Show and their off-shoot pods.

Re: Podcasts you listen to..

I'm finding I listen to, maybe, too many podcasts at the expense of reading my book on the train!

I had interestingly recently some people advocating audio books as a listen but not been too tempted to do so but for inspirational or emotive stories, an audio accompaniment may be preferred.

Re: The Office U.S

The Office is one of my all time favorite shows. It has so much heart. The first three seasons are great, the fourth and fifth are decent, after that it gets pretty dicey but while it's good it's really good. This, having got to end of the series 5 starting into 6 with Jim/Pam's wedding and the for...

Your year reflections and looking ahead to 2019

So, what's everyone felt happened good this year and looking forward to the next? Simple for me: becoming a dad to a boy and girl, they are three months and time is flying by but incredibly challenging. Mainly to keep one's patience when it's an early morning feed or they are crying and you've done ...

The Office U.S

Now, as an avid fan of original UK version of The Office, I'd not paid much attention to the US version of the sitcom (probably due to the fact it wasn't shown as availably here in the UK and I watched the pilot that wasn't great as due to the the differences, it didn't work) which, seemed to be doi...

Re: What's Your Favorite Rock Movie?

Watched San Andreas last night - fantastic visuals of the earthquake and Rock was solid as ever, but it seemed odd his character goes all out to save his wife and daughter (what would his employers have to make of it lol) and besides a few moments, there wasn't much inkling into the suffering wider ...

Re: Theresa May faces no confidence vote; Tories in turmoil

She survived, not surprisingly. The whole political situation is a mess: you have your chancers like Johnson, Gove, Davis and Fox doing everything for their own gain, Farage making noise without any credibility and still getting airtime, and as much as I like Corbyn for some of his policies, I just ...

Re: 2018/19 Football Season Thread

Just dropping in to say Norwich are top of the league. We're playing football like we're sodding Barcelona. I don't know what's happening. We might actually be good now. It's all very confusing. I was intrigued by Farke's appointment considering Wagner's success at Huddersfield, and obviously Klopp...

Hey man! long time no see around here. As you can see things are pretty slow but things are going pretty well for me and seemingly for others around here too. Re: Do you think Trump will be reelected?

I'd say so as I haven't seen a Democrat candidate as a viable threat to him and as aforementioned, the President normally gets re-elected and he might just eek over the winning line which will say just as much about how the nation feels about him. I thought he wouldn't survive his first term but it ...

Re: WWE Meet Rock Bottom

What's with the bald head with HBK though, it for a role he's preparing for or just fancied getting rid of his locks?

He was wearing an absymal head garment IIRC on RAW.

Re: Evolution to reunite at Smackdown 1000

In light of Batista wanting it, and HHH being HHH, I'd say this is nailed on for the main, or co, event of the next Mania. It might tie into whatever next big film Dave is working on, (not the Galaxy as he's pulled out of it apparently) but tbh I can't blame him. He's seen Rock come back into main e...

Re: WWE facing criticism for Saudi Arabia event amid investigation into activist's disappearance

Yeah, I'd be wary about reports of superstars pulling out but for Saudi, they've given WWE a huge chunk of coins to make the shows happen and I can't see them pulling out for CJ but they may pull back - temporarily - on other planned events until this episode quietens down (but if the story goes as ...

Re: Roman Reigns has Leukemia, relinquishes title

Awful news and wish him the best and hope he has a full recovery. I saw an excerpt of his statement and thought it was nice he referenced his real name and that behind all the Roman Reigns bravado, there's a bloke with a normal name trying to do his job regardless of whether you agree or disagree wi...
